Sono Mama!

We will be closed for the next 2 weeks. I gave a date of August 16th – as a Tuesday this was obviously inaccurate; will confirm restart date soon.

Great work Charlie!
Charlie just graded up to White/Red in his recent test.
The quiet smile of well-earned recognition.

He also led the team that lifted Tony clean across the mats this week! No lightweight, then. Nice one, Charlie, well deserved.

PS: There will be no judo for the next 2 weeks – we restart August 16th.

Golden Boy!!

Richard Murphy, our Seniors Coach, competed in the British Ne Waza (groundwork) Championships in High Wycombe last Saturday, 16 July, 2016 winning all his contests in the 66 and 73 categories. Literally, you can’t keep a good man down!

Congratulations to Ellen and Rachel… Effort and Achievement

Grading up for Ellen and Rachel. On Wednesday last Ellen Greally passed her test to gain her Orange belt and Rachel Howarth moved up from yellow to yellow/Orange. Congratulations to both ladies: Kano says ‘Where there is effort, there is always achievement’ – as you two demonstrate. Pictured is Sensei Tony Allen presenting our judoka with their belts.

Red and White and Read All Over

Fionn shows his new Red/White belt, earned through a lot of practise and regular attendance at the club. Congratulations, judoka!

Richard Grabs UK Gold!

Richard Murphy has added another Gold to his impressive string of wins this year, taking top spot at the High Wycombe Judo Masters Open in the UK last weekend (May 28th).

Pictured (centre) with his Gold medal, Richard fought and won the M2 Under 66kgs, with Ben Clayden (left), of Athenry Judo Club, who took Silver in the M1 Over 100kgs; and Mattie O’Loughlin (right), of Galway City School of Judo, who gained a Bronze in M2 Under 90kgs, at the hard-fought and well-attended international event.
